Testimonials

“I learned valuable information and developed skills I will take with me throughout my life. Being a Master of Public Health student at UNC Charlotte, I knew I wanted to spend my summer gaining professional experience in a non-profit setting, while also contributing to a meaningful cause within my community. Interning at CRRA gave me all of that and more. I learned about the administrative and legal side of refugee arrival, assisted with arrival procedures, and collaborated with community partnership organizations. My favorite part of interning at CRRA was developing trusting relationships with clients and seeing the real, positive impact we make on the lives of our clients. I consider my internship at CRRA to be one of my greatest professional development experiences that I will carry with me in my career as a public health professional”.

“Upon entering my senior year at UNC Charlotte, I knew that it was important for me to have hands-on professional experience related to my public health degree. During my internship, I was able to work closely with staff and clients of various programs at CRRA. I learned about policy and procedures, working on apartment set-ups with volunteers, and how to operate within a professional environment. My favorite part about interning at CRRA was being able to form both personal and professional relationships that have had a meaningful impact on my life moving forward”.

“During my internship with CRRA in the summer of 2023, I gained valuable experience and insight into the factors that impact refugee families’ access to healthcare, housing, and education. At the time, I was a rising junior at UNC Chapel Hill, with an academic background in Geographic Information Sciences (GIS) and global health. This internship allowed me to make a tangible difference in my community by assisting with apartment setups and transporting clients to doctors’ appointments. These experiences strengthened my commitment to addressing health access disparities and language accessibility issues in my community. As I continue my studies in public health during graduate school, I will carry forward the relationships I built with CRRA staff and clients, which deeply enriched my perspective and knowledge of the world around me”
